I grew up in the cold war area of the southern part of the United States, so communism was an evil word. In 2007 I'd find myself in a country with a sign proudly posting directions to the communist party, so this just blew my mind.

What was more amazing is that China didn't feel like what my government and teachers had led me to believe a communist country was like. In fact, in so many ways it blew me away from what we had in the US. As a result, you could say that this sign was a light bulb moment for me where I opened my mind to a reality different than what I had previously believed.
